Industrial Concrete Pavement Design and Construction: Opportunities and Solutions

    Featured Speaker:

    Jason Wimberly

Jason D. Wimberly, PE, MCE, FACI
Vice President, Technical Solutions and Innovation
    Innovation for AM Concrete

Industrial construction is experiencing an increase in concrete paving as demand for service life and sustainability grows.  As demand increases, so does the likelihood of potential issues generated either by poor or incomplete design, changing materials, improper construction practices or a combination of these factors.  This session will discuss current industry guidance on the design and construction of concrete parking lots and industrial pavements as recommended by ACI 330 Committee documents.  Of particular interest will be a presentation of the common failures observed in concrete parking lots and ways to avoid them.

What you'll learn in this session:

    • Present and discuss common challenges with concrete parking lot design and construction.
    • Describe the current ACI 330 recommendations for pavement design to minimize design challenges.
    • Discuss the symbiotic relationship between proper design and construction
    • Explain how to optimize joint spacing and mix designs to minimize construction challenges
